Rong He

Rong He comes from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. She arrived at Baylor University in September 1 2008 to conduct research for the ESVIC Project. At Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, she is an Associate Professor of the Institute of Sociology, and the co-editor of Social Theory (Beijing: Social Scientific Classics Publishing House). She received her Ph.D. from Peking University (Beijing, China) in 2003 and joined Chinese Academy of Social Sciences since then.
She currently works on Institutional analysis of Chinese Buddhism, religion and state, theory of sociology of religion. She is the principal investigator of a project sponsored by National Social Sciences Foundation of China.
She has published books, articles and book reviews on sociology of religion and economic sociology.

Jianbo "Raymond" Huang arrived at Baylor University in August of 2007 from Renmin University of China to conduct research for the ESVIC Project. At Renmin University in China, he is an Associate Professor in the Institute of Anthropology and an Honorary Research Associate for the Center for the Study of Religion and Chinese Society, Chung Chi College, Chinese University of Hongkong. He received his Ph.D. from Central University of Nationalities (Beijing, China) in 2003 and joined Renmin University in 2005.
His current research focuses on urbanization and its impact on Christianity in China, Christianity among the minorities in China, and religion and funerals in rural societies.
He is the author of Essays of Cultural Anthropology (Minzu Press, 2007) and dozens of articles.

Changqi "George" Xia arrived at Baylor University in July of 2008 from Wuhan University of China to conduct research for the ESVIC Project. At Wuhan University in China, he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology. He received his Ph.D. from Wuhan University (Wuhan, China) in 2006.
Dr. Xia's research interests include Christianity in rural China, Religion and Civil Society in China.

Elisa Jiexia Zhai is currently a post-doctoral research fellow in ISR. She earned her B.A. in sociology from Peking University in 2001 and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in sociology from the University of Texas at Austin in 2007. Dr. Zhai currently works on Empirical Studies of Values in China project. Her dissertation examined the empirical association between religion, gender, and family relations in Taiwan. Dr. Zhai's research and teaching interests include sociology of religion, family, China and East Asia, Asian immigrants in the U.S., and research methods.
